The glory of cashmere is the way it takes colour

A perennial essential of the autumn wardrobe, Drake's lightweight 30 gauge cashmere V-neck pullover is the perfect companion to jeans, twills, and corduroy trousers. But that's the tactile part of it. Visually what's so stunning, what is the great glory of fine cashmere is the way it takes colour. There's really nothing like it. No other fibre is capable of absorbing and reflecting colour that's both vibrant and soft at the same time.

It's something of a wonderful mystery. Well, the technical people with their electronic microscopes have explained it, there are these thick manuals which go into great detail about cellular construction and outer scale distribution, and so forth. But the truth is that mere cold and calculating science can't begin to convey the aesthetic visual appeal at all. A superior piece of cashmere appears to have been lightly brushed by a breeze to give it a slightest hazy lustre. It never glares, no matter what the shade or hue; the colors never jump out at you. They softly glow, and serenely sit there waiting to be admired.

We're a bit braggish about our cashmere. We think we have a right to be because ours is the finest fibre from Inner Mongolia, dyed and spun in the most historic and specialized cashmere mill in Scotland. We knit our sweaters more tightly than others (thus using more fibres) for greater quality and durability. All stitching and trimming are done by hand and fully fashioned. The colours are poems.
